Introducing the Second Draft of the Shropshire Accord — Have Your Say
The VCSA is pleased to share that the second draft of the Shropshire Accord is now available to review and respond to. This updated draft reflects the collective insight, priorities and lived experience shared during the first consultation phase and at the 2024 AGM. It represents the next step in shaping a refreshed and practical Accord that strengthens how the VCSE sector and public sector partners work together across Shropshire.
What is the Shropshire Accord?
The Accord is an evolving county‑wide agreement that sets out the shared principles, commitments and ways of working between the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector and statutory partners. Its purpose is to ensure collaboration is effective, respectful and rooted in a shared understanding of the needs and strengths of Shropshire’s communities.
For VCSE organisations, the Accord underpins your voice, your involvement in strategic forums, and the conditions that enable you to deliver high‑quality support to residents.
What’s new?
The second draft incorporates learning from the past year, including:
- Stronger emphasis on clarity of roles and accountability
- Refined commitments around representation, co‑production and emergency response
- Updates informed by current sector pressures, local financial context and feedback from members
- Clearer language to help ensure the Accord is both strategic and practical in everyday partnership work
