Older People's Sounding Board

The Shropshire Older People's Sounding Board has been operating in some form since 2011.

Individuals, groups and organisations who work with older people come together to talk about related issues. Meetings are held regularly and publicised widely to the community.

Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin leads and organises the Sounding Board.

Our Aims

The Sounding Board want to build up a group of people, from all areas of the county, from whom we can seek views, ideas and inspiration, to help us develop our services and direction for the future. The challenges are great – with the impact of Covid-19 and the increasing older population people’s needs and expectations are changing, and we want to ensure that our plans and strategies for the future are aligned with what people want.

Membership of the Sounding Board does not cost anything, other than your time and you can give as much, or as little time as you want. AgeUK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin engages directly with the Sounding Board in the following ways:

  • Inviting members to open meetings twice a year to discuss key issues or plans.
  • Invitation to one off focus groups on specific topics or to discuss services we would like to consider developing.
  • Receiving information about our campaigns and circulating this among your networks. This will mainly be via email or social media but we may from time to time send out written materials.

If you are an individual older person seeking to have their views heard or are representing a group or organisation supporting older people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, we hope you will consider joining our Sounding Board; we would really value and appreciate your views and time. You can, of course, leave at any time if you no longer wanted to be involved.

If you would like to join please call 01743 233 123 or email enquiries@ageukstw.org.uk
